vivo V27 5G visits Geekbench with 12GB of RAM, unknown MediaTek chipset

Back in November of last year a leak talked about vivo launching the V27 and V27 Pro in India sometime this month. Today the V27 has allegedly showed up in the Geekbench online database, and thus is seemingly solidifying the credibility of that past information, since prototypes are usually tested closer to their official introductions.

The phone which ran Geekbench has the model number V2246, and it runs Android 13, unsurprisingly. Perhaps somewhat more surprising is the fact that it has 12GB of RAM, which is not something you see often on a mid-ranger. The chipset isn"t listed, but due to the Mali-G610MC4 GPU it uses is most likely a yet-unknown part from MediaTek. As you can see, the prototype managed an 845 single-core score and a 2,217 multi-core score.

According to fresh rumors, the V27 will get a 4G version and a 5G version, while the V27 Pro will only be offered with 5G. The V27e 5G should join all of these at some later point, and the naming implies it should be the cheapest 5G-enabled option of the bunch.

The vivo V27 5G may have some similarities with the S16 5G that was launched in China in December. While that might turn out to be true, if the V27 5G sports a MediaTek SoC, it can"t just be a rebranding exercise, as the S16 boasts Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 870.
